Machu Pichu 'Jay Vee'

Couldn't resist showing this one off. Beautiful colour and shape and John's favourite orchid.

Craft & Quilting Fair

The craft and quilting fair was held this year here in our home town of Launceston. Pat and I attended and had a lot of fun checking out all the stalls and chatting to different stall holders and seeing some of their marvelous creations. We enjoyed talking to Prudence Mapstone and her hubby and there are a few pics here on our other blog if you are interested in seeing  some of what goes on at the fair.

Lest We Forget!

In memory of the Anzac spirit and all who fought and died for what they believed. At the going down of the sun and in the morning 'We will remember you'. To those who fought and lived 'We will remember you'. Pray for our fighting men and women wherever they may be that may return safely to their families and homes and for peace on earth.Just returned from the parade!

Coasters Received!

Just received an email from Clara saying she had received her coasters today and they brightened up her day... Isn't that lovely? I am so pleased they arrived safely, now I just need to hear from Sandhya if she has hers yet. Hope she gets them soon..

Brrrr.. Cold Today!

Not much doing on this cold and wintery, rainy day.. And it's only just autumn... Oh well, perfect day for crochet or reading or cooking or, or, or.. Mmm.... What to do, that is the question?  Another nice cup of tea curtisy of my beloved sounds ok to me at present and then after lunch  maybe i'll make some scones or something nice for afternoon tea. Plenty of time to think about it today... Bye for now.. :))

We had a great day yesterday.. The weather was fantastic and the company was fun and I guess you can't ask for more. John and I held a potting demo and show setup demo for the newer members of our local orchid society. I demonstrated repotting different genera of orchids and our secretary, Priscilla, kindly did the show setup demo which she did really well. She has a good eye for perspective and balance, which can be quite hard to achieve when setting up a display for orchids due to the variation in size, colour and shape, and depends totally on what orchids are in flower at the time. She used orchids from our collection most of which had no flowers but achieved a creditable display in spite of that. Thanks Priscilla!! We had a lovely barbeque and everyone brought something nice to share from lovely salads to really yummy deserts.. And we also held a raffle whose proceeds go to the society and which all the members really enjoy as a bit of fun and if they are lucky, they may get to take home a few new plants to add to their collection besides vegs and other odds and ends. A great day in all but If there are any more of these days we may need to have bigger back yard.. Only 21 people and it was little crowded although no one seemed to mind and said it was cozy A great day in all which left me pleasantly tired for a change.

Soup Mug Cosy!

Made this today.. Just messing around to see if it would work.. I have seen the mug cosies before so I just made one a lot bigger and added a couple of buttons. Might work, we'll have to see how it goes when there is actually soup in the mug.
Anyone have any advice as to how I can make them more formfitting??  This one is made in a mohair yarn but I may make the next in wool or cotton. Any suggestions??

And Then There's This!

Just a 'Whimsey' I'm afraid but I thought it would be nice if I had something to protect my little portable hard drive so I made it a little cover all of it's own..Lol.. Quite pretty I think, I just love yellow, and it will certainly stop it from getting scratched when I am carting it around. What do you think??

A Lot of coasters!

These  are some of the coasters I have finished.. 4 pairs have been gifted in my coaster giveaway. Kate from Creativeworld has emailed me she has received her set so I am only waiting for confirmation from the other winners that theirs have arrived but as 2 of them were overseas they shouldn't be there as yet.

Another find!

I found this at the op shop... It had only the leaves done so I intended to pull it apart and redo it all but I changed my mind and left the leaves the way they were and did the rest and then crocheted around the edge. I do embroider now and again but as far as the edging goes it's pretty simple, I don't like using fine cotton, I can't feel where it is, and I've never used a size '40' before and probably won't again but I am satisfied with it over all. Needs a wash though but very carefully I think. Should I wash it by hand do you think??

My special delivery!

A few weeks ago I had a special delivery straight from the great state of TEXAS.. How cool is that?? I have friends that spend quite a few months there every year and when they offered to bring back some craft supplies I thought Hmm... Sugar & Cream...  And look what I got!! Quadruple what's in the photo plus the gift of a book of dishcloth patterns. So i've made the dishcloth from one of the patterns which I will give to them for their kindness. Not enough I know but I hope they like it!! Thanks David & Suzanne...  :))
